Wave of Evictions Could Be Coming for Nation’s Renters
The federal moratorium on evictions that was made law in March as part of the CARES Act will expire Friday at midnight. Setting the stage for a new disaster for Americans, 11 million evictions are expected to result unless a safety net is established.
“Communities across this country need eviction protections adn housig assistance in order to avert mass evictions and homelessness,” said Rep. Jesus Garcia (D-IL). “If we fail to act, recovery from the coronavirus pandemic and the looming economic crisis will be impossible.”
